    compile error (Word2000)

Hi, folks. I found this forum by way of searching for a solution to the "compile error" bug that occurs after un-installing EStamp. I tried to solve the problem by going to Tools, then Options, then File Locations, then Startup, then Modify... but can't figure out what to do from there.

I did uninstall EStamp, and now when I try to print from Word, I get the "compile error" message. This is my business computer, so it is pretty disastrous for me. Can anybody explain to me how to fix this? Thanks very much!

SORRY! I figured it out, after several searches I finally found Jscher's post of September 1. I got rid of the estamp.dot file by going to Tools, Templates and Add-Ons, and unchecking the darn things. It worked. Many thanks.

You may want to find the file on the hard disk and delete it as well. It serves no useful purpose if you want it gone and will always load into new sessions of Word when you start it if it is in a startup directory or loaded as an addin.

Thank you, Andrew. Not sure how to do that. Tried looking at My Computer, the C drive, but no such thing appears. Afraid I'll really screw it up if I keep bumbling around!

    Hi Delany:

You might look again. If you found & unticked it under Tools/Templates & add-ins, then it should be on your disk. Try this:
    1. Click an empty spot on the taskbar & press F3.
    2. Make sure that the look in box is your primary hard drive & that "include subfolders" is ticked. If you have a network drive, you might check there too.
    3. Type "Estamp.dot" in the "named" box & search.

    Hope this helps.
