    Win 7 back up code

I have a Dell Xps 8300 with Win7 Home Prem. that the Windows back up fails with a code 0x1000031. I haven't been able to solve this issue. None of the info I've found online seems to help. Anybody have a solution or know where to find more info? Been doing the Win 7 updates as needed.

    Thanks in advance.

?Maybe consider using another nonMicrosoft freebie or pay-for backup program?

Your error message number of 0x1000031 is short one character, should be 0x plus 8 characters. It makes a big difference in searches.

I thought that as well, but have you read Coochin's link in Post #2 ?

Don't know where he found that but I don't get anything on that error code no matter how I phrase a Google search - perhaps Google works better Down Under

I'd be interested to know if Event Viewer reports anything on this.

Try enclosing your search term in double-quotes, e.g.:

    "recipe for strawberry jam"

The double-quotes tell Google to search for the exact term. I searched for "0x1000031" (with the quotes).

I'd forgotten about that but it still doesn't give me the link you had found.

Those "odd" hiccups are probably from drinking pommy beer.

Sorry here is what the error looks like 0x81000031. I did try a free back up program that appears to have worked. EaseUS ToDo Back up. Would still like to know what is causing this error. I will explore some more using the provided info.

    Thanks to all!

I'd stick to using Easus, it's probably much better than the MS offering.
