Esc Key creates charts in Excel 2013

I have Excel 2013 (Windows 7) on some computers, I find that hitting the ESC key now creates a new chart sheet instead of exiting a cell edit or operation.

Haven't found any info on this issue. Is this supposed to be happening? Hard to change habits after 15 years.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Does it still happen if you start Excel in Safe Mode by holding down the Ctrl key while starting Excel normally and answering Yes to the prompt? If not, it's due to an add-in. I haven't heard of this behaviour before in any version of Excel so I suspect some other file/program is at work. It shouldn't really be possible to create a chart while you are in edit mode.

    Steve,

Is this happening on all your computers that you have 2013 installed. Are you using a programmable keyboard where the escape key could have been remapped?

    Hi Rory

..as Maud says, it looks like the [F11] key has been remapped.
    Nice update to your pic.
    Just been there.

    Hi zeddy,

I would agree apart from the "I find that hitting the ESC key now creates a new chart sheet instead of exiting a cell edit" comment. F11 doesn't create a chart if you're in the middle of editing a cell.

Burwash is nice this time of year.

Is it possible that the keypress ESC has been captured in a macro, with an Application.OnKey statement ?
It might be worth searching the whole project for "ESC".

Key had been reprogrammed. Fixed. Odd that it still worked as proper ESC in all other programs.
    Thanks
