4 second delay from right mouse click on desktop until menu opens.

I have used Classic Shell so that I bypass the Fisher Price graphics and go straight to the log-in page (4 digit p.i.n.), and then to the desktop.

I don't know if the right click delay is a result of that or not - I don't think I used right click before the changes.

There is no delay after any other right clicks.

How can I remove this annoying delay?

The only time I've seen delays like that is on slow machines with lots of disk activity, but if the delay is consistent and only on the desktop I don't know what to suggest apart from checking processor and disk activity.

    cheers, Paul

There could be something in this article that could help - or at least point you in the right direction https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...5365-RXBN-5508

It's a new machine with few applications added. There's Classic Shell, CCleaner, McAfee Live Safe (preinstalled), RoboForm, Mailwasher Pro and JV16 Power Tools.

There's usually no disc activity, according to the l.e.d. alongside the power light. It spends most of its time gazing into space, doing nothing.

I see this delay only when right clicking on the desktop. All other right clicks open up the relative menu immediately.

    your good health, Syncopator

I see nothing in that link which is applicable to this effect.

Can you disable Classic Shell and test?
Have you checked the Classic Shell forum - do they have one?

    cheers, Paul

I don't yet know how to disable Classic Shell, but yes, there is a forum. I shall ask there.

To disable Classic Shell, right click on the Start Icon and click on Exit.

    Thank you Jerry.

I also asked for help on MajorGeeks, and have now found that disabling an entry in the Context Menu list cures the problem.

    The thread is here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthr...=1#post1901506
