advice on choosing a cable modem and wireless router
I was born BC (before computers) and just signed up for internet via cable. I'd appreciate my fellow members advice on choosing a modem and wireless router. My computer will be about 20 feet from the wireless router. I do not transact banking or other business using a wireless router.
Two that are top sellers on Amazon are the (1) TP-LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 Home Router, 300Mpbs, IP QoS, WPS Button and the (2) Motorola Surfboard SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. Have members had experience with these?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

BC, that's pre 1950s.
Will your ISP provide the cable modem? They do outside the US IME.
I've seen reports of the Surfboard being a reliable modem.
Pretty much any current wireless router will do what you want at such a short distance. You could even use cable and forgo wireless.
It is safe to use your own wireless router for banking etc because you know the data is not being intercepted.

Did you check out the Customers reviews on Amazon for the TP-Link as some can be problematic.

Sudo, I did check customer reviews and also looked up which modems are the biggest sellers.
