    Lost shortcut for Word

I am setting up a new Windows 7 laptop with Office 2003.

Everything is working fine, but something odd just happened: I noticed that documents in the Taskbar didn't have the usual Word icon (they did yesterday !).
Neither does the Word entry in the Start menu - the one which also shows pinned and recently used files - very convenient.

Then I found that the Word shortcut under Microsoft Office in the Start Menu is missing.

Everything else seems OK and Excel, Access, Outlook etc all have their correct icons and shortcuts in place.

I have temporarily reinstated the Word shortcut in Microsoft Office, but it is simply a link to winword.exe, not the special shortcut which Office installs, and it shows the correct Word icon.

It might have been possible that I deleted something by mistake, but I haven't emptied the Recycle bin and there's nothing relevant there.

How can I get things back to how they should be ?

    Thanks

Well, a reboot got the icon association back so that just leaves the issue of the special Word shortcut in the Microsoft Office Start Menu folder. Help gratefully received.

    I don't have Office 2003 installed (only FrontPage 2003) so I can't test but...

If you go into Control Panel > Programs and Features and select Office 2003, do you have an option to Repair?

    Hope this helps...

That did it ! Thank you for the prompt reply.

Should have thought of that for myself, but it has been some years since I last installed Office.
