    Hibernation ?

I sometimes go to Hibernation on my Lenovo 9926. It hates it ! After ± 5 seconds, it restarts. Has anybody else noticed this ? Not a BIOS thing !

Is Hibernation defeated by the "Power that be", so they can work on your machine to their heart's content ?

It always amazes me to see that my three dedicated 9926 machines can be so different. Mainly on the LAN, the older Toshiba will see the other two machines, no question asked, I did not even have to trigger the LAN. The Acer and Lenovo are cantankerous, at times the LAN is active and other times, not. It will see the other machines but will not open anything on request, C:\ or any folder. The settings ought to be fine ( Sharing ) as sometimes they open everything. Strange but fun.

    Best wishes. Jean.

I just use Sleep during the day and Shutdown with Fast Startup enabled (Essentially Hibernate) overnight.

    Hello, co-sinner.
I will bite, where is the click for Fast Startup ? In BIOS ? I just had a perfunctory look and could not locate it.
    Best wishes. Jean.

It should be selected by default. To Check:
Type Power in the Search Box
Click on Choose a Power Plan
Click on Choose what the Power Buttons do
Under Shutdown Settings, the box next to Turn on Fast Startup should be checked

I misspoke a little. Fast Startup is a Hybrid Hibernate that saves current system settings but not active user state like which programs are open, allow a much faster boot. For a detailed description, see:

Sorry, Jerry, to have asked. I had already done this but my personal RAM lost it. I was there before to enable hibernation.
A funny ! I made a shortcut icon for the Control Panel and placed it on my desktop. I would not open in Large ions, always did in Category. Shoot ! I then placed an icon for CP on the Taskbar and that one always opens in Large icons. Go search !
    Best wishes. Jean.

The Applications window wants to do the same, by default, intertestly enough.

    Cheers,
