    Angry Windows Update Problem

For several weeks - over a month - every time I Shut Down, I get the message Don't Turn Off Your Computer, Windows is installing 1 of 7 updates. It's like it never flags those updates as completed. If I run Windows Update and click "Check for Updates, I get "Code 80070422 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."
If I follow through the help screens and get to "Fix it" I get:
    "
    Windows update error Not fixed

    0x80070057(2015-02-19_59_48)"

If I go to "View Update History" I see the same 7 updates with Status "Successful" (6 are Important and 1 is Recommended) with Date Installed list for every days it has tried to install them. If I click on See Installed Updates, the page is empty with the message "No updates are installed on the computer."

I need some more clues on what to try next.

Download the relevant Windows Update Readiness Tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 which is designed to resolve the 0x80070057 error plus others.

Don't know if you've already run this Fixit which fixes repeated updates http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910339 and this one is to reset the Windows Update Components http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Let us know how you get on with those.
