Saving data from application isolated storage

    Hi,

I needed a voice recording app for use at a meeting, and installed "Free voice recorder" It appears to work fine, and I uploaded a small sample file to OneDrive without issue.

    This is the app http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/st...9-f68735e0c88c

I attended an important meeting, and afterwards tried to upload the recording (just over an hour long)

The upload fails without any error message, actually shutting down the application in the process. (Crashed out by most descriptions)

The recording is present, and can be played by the application, however I cannot get the wav file off my phone and onto OneDrive where I need it so it can be circulated.

Can anybody help me gain access to the recording, which I suspect is in the Apps isolated storage.

The apps developers do not reply to any requests for assistance, and I appear to be very much on my own.

I have PC's running windows 7, but the storage is not accessible through this route.

    Many thanks for your assistance,
    D.

You should be able to connect the phone to a Win7 PC via a USB cable. Once connected you should be able to navigate the phone storage and copy\move the wav file to the PC. How big is the wav file?

Free Recorder v1.4 apparently has a companion app - Free Recorder Explorer - to get the recordings off.

There's only 2 reviews of Free Recorder Explorer so far - one says it works fine, the other says there was a problem... but this may be the solution you are looking for.

    Hope this helps...

    HI Joe, Rick,

I'm not able to see the file when I connect to the PC. I suspect it's stored in a protected area for the app.

I tried companion app and can't make this work either. The app simply times out, and I've been unable to connect to the PC.

Because the app and it's companion do not work, and appear totally unsupported, I was hoping for advice on how to access the storage on the phone directly.

Update, managed to find out the trick

The download app does not work when the phone is plugged in, but uses the WiFi connection to download the data.

Many thanks for the links, all sorted now
