    RegExp Reference (VB6)

I'm trying to make a class work using the RegExp Object referenced in a VB Journal article. Problem is that it is erroring on the RegExp declaration (Dim [Object] as RegExp) saying User Defined Type Not Defined. I'm guessing that I might not have a proper reference set. Do you agree, and if so, do you know which reference I would use. It would take me all day to go through all the choices I have available.

This RegExp object interrogates a string's characters for their individual datatypes.

    Mike,

I haven't used it, but it looks like the reference is "Microsoft VB Script Regular Expressions".

BTW the MSDN guide to using RegExp can be found <A target="_blank" HREF=http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/script56/html/vtoriVBScript.asp>here</A>.

It's Microsoft VBScript Regular Expressions (version 5.5 on my machine).
If you have it installed, you can start the script editor (Tools > Macro > Microsoft Script Editor) and look in the online help for RegExp or the Pattern property.

You can create the object at run-time instead, as in <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=wrd&Number=88215>Post #88215</A>. If your target users are on Win98 or earlier, and might not have loaded IE 5.x, this also might provide more fault tolerance (with a little error trapping).
