    W8 2 go

I am trying to make a Windows to go disk for repair projects on a flash drive that will boot CSM, BIOS of UEFI.
Does anyone have a good link that explains the ins and outs of this? Something other that the obtuse MS Tech articles or the script examples.

On another related note; I booted a UEFI bootable Macrium Reflect PE on a USB flash drive on a UEFI W8 laptop and now the BCD on the laptop has an entry for the USB drive. What?? How? Why ???

PS This UEFI stuff is still confusing. Seems simple at a distance but once you get trying to do stuff it gets fuzzy

UEFI recognises bootable devices and adds them to the boot options. Maybe your MB doesn't remove them if the device is removed, does the option appear at boot time it the USB is not connected? Note: UEFI boot is a motherboard function.

    cheers, Paul

I don't kniw. I will check tomorrow. I wonder if there is an utility that can read the entry in UEFI.

It depends on the MOBO. If you go to the MOBO manufacturers web site, you may find that they provide one that runs in Windows.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I never did even boot the laptop til today, came into work and was greeted by : Hi David, the AI is down hard! (not that kind of AI) hours, 5 Canbus to Ethernet Kidweb Adapters and a Nic later and all was well, but no sitdown time that day!

No and the BCD entry is missing as well, there is obviously so interaction going on here that I was not fully aware of.
Any links to info will be much appriciated. I may go back and reread that link I gave a couple of weeks ago
