How are you expected to activate Win 10 from a pirated Win 7 copy or is that an "answers on a postcard please"

Here's an interesting article on "the upgrade path to Win 10".

At first glance this seems a strange decision. If Microsoft are going to allow upgrades to Windows 10 from pirate versions of - for example - Windows 7 then what's to stop thousands, if not millions, of users from 'upgrading' their (possibly legitimate) XP and Vista PCs and laptops first to a pirate version of Windows 7 then to a legitimate version of Windows 10?

    Rick,

As I read the article it is only for pirated copies in China. HTH

    Hi RG,

The quoted article shows : "A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed via email that the plan to allow free upgrades for non-genuine copies of Windows applies to all markets and is not limited to China." (My emphasis)

A sub link in the article you posted, RG - gives http://www.pcworld.com/article/28986...rates-too.html so it's for all qualifying devices.

My daughter's currently using them, not to burn ants but to incinerate small asteroids.
