    XP & Messenger Service

    Greetings
    Any ideas on how to remove Messenger.
    Darn thing pops up all through the system like a weed.
    I can hide it through Outlook but havent found how to kill it.

    Cheers

    make sure it's disabled in outlook express too - both in tools | options and by hiding the contacts pane in express.

    Look under your windows dir (using search) for sysoc.inf. open using notepad.

    Look for a line that begins with msmsgs=
    In that line, delete "hide "(don't delete any commas though). It should look like this -
    msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

    close and save sysoc.inf and restart your computer. You will then be able to remove msn messenger from the windows components part of add/remove.
