    append query (2000)

I have one table containing 2000 records and I want to append one of the fields only to a new table. But when I run the append query it only appends 1 record with the one field. Why does it not append all 2000 records but just the one field from those records?

Sounds like you may have criteria set that is limiting the records returned.

I would check this by executing the query from within the design view of the query to see if it is returning the correct records.

If that doesn't turn out to be the case, post the SQL and we'll take a look at it. (Change the view to SQL in query design and copy and paste it into the post.)

    Re: append query (2000)

I am executing the append query in design view and it is only appending one or two records with the correct field needed but I want all 2000 records with that field only in the new table. I did not enter criteria to limit the number of records to append. Any other suggestions? Could there be an internal limit set on a table when created that I need to change?

    Re: append query (2000)

If you execute the query from within the design view of the query ... the query will not append any records, it will simply emulate a select query. This is why I I told you to do this. You should see all 2000 records returned by this method. If all records are not being returned then .... there must be something limiting the query results such as incorrect Joins or some kind of criteria or conditions being set.

You must be filtering something. Swich to SQL view and see what's in the WHERE clause. There has to be some criteria in the WHERE clause or you would get all 2000 records.

Thanks, I had the two tables joined wrong. Thanks for the help.
