    By Lincoln Spector

You need to take precautions when using public nets; here are some tips for safe computing outside your fixed defenses.

The full text of this column is posted at windowssecrets.com/on-security/how-to-safely-and-securely-use-public-wi-fi/ (paid content, opens in a new window/tab).

Good article! What about a hardware solution like Netgear's "Trek, N300 Travel Router and Range Extender"? I've used it when traveling and accessing Wi-Fi from hotels. There are probably other similar devices, but this one works great and provides a secure connection......I think?
