    Registry backups

Aside from the obvious fact that W-10 is far from finished, is there any known reason why ERUNT (http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/) cannot be used as a registry backup?

Did you try turning off UAC (User Account Control)?

I have been using tweaking.com's Registry Backup [can use either VSS & alternate method].

There is a VB Script, that has been updated to backup the Registry in Windows 10.
I set it to run on every boot-up, from my "Startup" folder. Then if ever I need to do a registry Restore to get out of a problem, I have a fresh Registry Restore Point to use.

I downloaded ERUNT years ago, but found the only part of that package that I needed or wanted, was the little program, "NTREGOPT" for Optimizing (compressing) the registry. I run that after my weekly cleaning of the registry.
That keeps my registry, Clean, Lean and mean! Since the Registry has to load into RAM memory on every boot up, that saves memory too. That's one program I keep in my Quick Launch Toolbar, for fast access.

    Cheers Mates!
