Strange Chinese program I cannot get rid of

I have attached a document with screen shots and an explanation of my problem with a program that appeared on my computer. The program is in Chinese, and I cannot get rid of it.

Virustotal.com says the URL "http://anquan.baidu.com/" is safe (0/62).

However, if BaiduAn will not uninstall through Control Panel > Programs and Features, do the following...

    1. Download AdwCleaner, right-click on the EXE and select Run as Administrator. Click Scan and when that completes, click Clean and follow the prompts.

    2. Download the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and install it. Run Malwarebytes and update the the database. Select Scan > Custom Scan, and click Scan Now. Check the Scan for Rootkits box and click Start Scan. Follow the instructions for anything it finds.

    3. Download the Junkware Removal Tool, right-click on the EXE and select Run as Administrator.

Some of these programs can take a while, so be patient and let them run to completion.

    Let us know the results.

The first thing I thought was "have they attached a virus laden doc file instead of pasting words and attaching images?". Luckily it's been answered so I don't have to download it to check.

The doc is clean, we wouldn't have left it if it wasn't.

But - if you do see something that you think consider suspicious in future, click the little triangle bottom left of the post in question.

That looks very much like what I get, only mine is usually a lot longer covering about 2/3 of the width of the screen. However, I don't have a listing for BaiduAn or any other program of the type in the control panel program listings.

If you are getting those sorts of pop-ups you need to follow jwoods steps in post #3.

It doesn't look or act like any 'popup' that I've seen before (doesn't mean that it isn't one, of course). Never had a 'popup' block out the upper tabs before. I have followed the steps in post #3 without getting any notices from the programs that they had found anything, and you can usually close out a popup. This you can't get rid of except by closing and restarting your browser.

Does it happen with a different browser? Download one of the portable versions for testing.

    cheers, Paul
