    Copying data

I want to do a relatively simple thing with two tables in Access but I cannot find any instructions that work.

I have two tables - one with 17 fields and another with 5 fields. The first two fields in both tables are the same. I created the first table by importing the data from an Excel spreadsheet. The second table I created within Access.

I want to copy all the data from the first two fields of the imported table into the same two fields of the new table (the remaining fields in this table will contain other data). I have not been able to find any instructions in the program help or in a large book I have about working with Access. Surely there must be a way to do this.

This should be fairly simple, requiring an Append query (substitute your real table/field names for mine):

    INSERT INTO Table2 (Field1, Field2)
    SELECT Field1, Field2 FROM Table1

Worked correctly. When I typed "Append Query" into the Help search box, the system responded with how to do the job.
