Double folders of Documents and Downloads in Computer

In the "CWBillow" folder I am showing two of both Documents and Downloads, and (seemingly) no way to discern which is "real" and/or which can be deleted. There are (is) only one showing in Explorer though.

    Help?

CWBillow is the user account name? If so, yes, you will find all kinds of funky Windows internal operations through-out all users. I recommend leave 'em bee, avoid getting stung.

Yes, CWBillow is the user account name. I have seen some strange things, but nevver a duplication of the folders!

Rick, in that post they are talking about duplicate folder ID #'s (term?) or some such, yes? I'm not sure I want to mess with all that, so....?

Post #11 gives info about right-clicking on the duplicated folders and choosing 'Properties' to determine which are shortcuts or symbolic links.

Rick. I don't have all the pieces yet, but when I changed the view the duplicates went away!

Rick, although I sort of understand what the link is talking about, it seems a bit beyond what I am used to working with or on. Additionally, I went to my other set up accounts -- including the Administrator account - and they all show the duplication \.

But it's NOT truly a duplication, since if I delete one, they BOTH are deleted -- AND, it is only showing up in the CWBillow folder, not in explorer!

I don't see any (non-expert) way to fix this except to restore from a backup and then bring over the personal files. I just wish I knew what caused it.

Chuck - Try making sure that hidden and system files/folders are actually hidden.

1, In an Explorer window, click on Folder and search options in the Organize menu.
    2. Select the View tab.
    3. Select the Don't show, files, folders or drives option.
    4. Make sure the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) checkbox is ticked.
    5. Click on the Apply button.
    6. Click on the Apply to Folders button.
    7. Click on the OK button to dismiss the dialog.

Does this get rid of the duplicated entries?

How are you viewing the folder if not via File Explorer?

OK, NOW I am totally baffled. I went back to a "blank" Windows 10 install, and then ran the updates, giving me Build 10061. And the "double" folders are back, for both Documents and Downloads. They are more like mirrors, because if I add a file to one folder it shows in both.

This is in the "CWBillow" "User's Files" folder, but not anywhere else.

SO, it's not anything I have running, 'cause nothing but the O/S is running. I get that this is still (early) beta...

Has anyone else reported anything like this? I can't believe I am the only one that has seen this. Since it seems to be related to the build, ... ?

Rick, here you go! And it seems to only be in "CWBillow", not Explore or My Computerr. So, I can't delete it since in reality there is only one folder.

Chuck - Thanks, the screenshot is helpful (A thousand words..., etc.)

It looks like you've set up QuickAccess (which I can see highlighted in the left-hand pane) to show both the normal QuickAccess symbolic links (to standard folders) as well as your account folder (which includes the default symbolic links to the same folders... hence the duplication of the default symbolic links) in the right-hand pane.

I wasn't able to duplicate that with build 10049 so I'm downloading build 10061 to see if I can set QuickAccess up in the same way.

    @Chuck,

I get the same thing if I use the Control Panel to pin the "my user files" shortcut to the desktop. Must be a bug. Use the feedback app to report it.
