    Jump List Disappeared!

    Hey Y'all,

I just had an interesting thing happen. I was testing some Excel code and needed to save it to a Non-Trusted Location. I did this and it saved fine. However, when I went back to open the file up via the Jump List (right-click on Excel Icon in Task Bar) the Jump List was empty!

Anyone else ever see this happen.

RG, have you tried un-pinning and then re-pinning Excel to the taskbar? That should rebuild the Jump List.

    BB,

Tried it but didn't work. Probably since I's started to rebuild it. I'll give that a try immediately if it happens again. Thanks for the reply.

RG, you didn't make a CCleaner run that might have cleared the Jump list by any chance?

    Jerry,

Although I've experienced CCleaner doing this and have since changed my settings so it won't do it I did not run CCleaner in this instance.

What I was doing was Testing out Maudibe's code for protecting contents of certain cells in a worksheet. As this process requires that Macros/VBA code be enabled I saved a copy of the file outside of my Trusted Locations to test that the technique would still work after I had made some changes. I then exited Excel. When I right-clicked on the taskbar the Jump List was empty and I was let's say unhappy!

Note: All of my other JLs (Access and Word) were intact.

    Hey Y'all,

It just happened again! It erased the Excel Jump list but didn't touch the ones for Access and Word!

    Hey Y'all,

Just got bit by this again! Surely don't know what is causing it. Note: Word & Access Jump Lists still in place. Any Ideas?

Don't know what your settings are for Excel's Options, saw this on my Excel 2013 [Version 15]:
    ExcelJumpList.png
    Perhaps an errant setting??
When I did a Search on Excel Jump List some pages came up from Microsoft but required Silverlight to view the tutorial, didn't notice anything specific about missing items from the list.

    Forgot this link:

    Paul,

Not that I am aware of! Of course I don't know it has disappeared until I go to use it which makes it hard to figure out when it happened or what caused it. I haven't run any thing like CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller that would mess in the registry. I find it extremely interesting that it only happens to the Excel jump list all the others (Word, Access,IE) are unaffected.

The only thing I can think of is trying a clean boot to determine if some background program is the culprit.

    Jerry,

Don't think that approach will work as it only happens every couple of weeks or so, much to intermittent to solve with a Clean Boot. Thanks for the idea though.

Wasn't aware of that. I agree that Clean boot is rarely useful for chasing intermittents unless you can run in that state for a long time. For what its worth, my jump lists have been stable so it must be one of your add ons. Good luck in finding out which one.
