Something better than Outlook 2010 for calendar, contacts, notes?

I have several laptops running XP and use Outlook to keep my calendar, contacts and notes (tasks). I sync with several Ipod Touch 4's and have been unhappy with the lack of control - eg: which is the MASTER. I used to use a Palm Pilot with the old outlook and everything worked perfectly but that combo stopped being supported a long time ago so I went the Apple route. Now I am looking for something better than Outloor and/or the Ipods.
    Suggestions/comments?

Not sure about your scenario, but a lot of people seem to like EverNote for note-taking. And I think I've heard about it being used successfully with device synchronization too.

Unfortunately I've not used it myself.

As for the rest, I've not branched away from Outlook as that product meets my needs. A lot of people here use Thunderbird as their e-mail client. Most likely it will also contain contact list functionality?

THanks for the info, but I am mainly interested in syncing my calendar and contacts.

You might look at the options offered in Outlook.com

Take a look at CompanionLink. Not free but worth every penny IMHO.

    Some info here.

Edit: There's a broken link on that page; Dawn, if you want it, is here. Note that Mozpod is in beta I believe.
