    Mail Merge font issue

I have a Word (2010) document with mail merge fields that pull from Excel (also 2010). The document is in Arial 11 font.

The Excel file has all of the data in the same font. However, when I preview the merge, the fields show up in Times New Roman.

When I hover the mouse on the field, the font shows as Arial 11...but it's NOT.
In the preview it is Times New Roman.

    What's going on here?

    AH HA...figured out a work-around: use \*Charformat [what a pain]

You shouldn't need the \*Charformat switch. Most likely, the issue you're having is that the field - and perhaps the paragraph it's contained in - has had character formatting applied that doesn't match the underlying paragraph's Style.
