Possible solution to saving photos "in the field"

For Tracey Capon's question re: photo backup "in the field": Take a look at the RavPower Filehub, a $30 beauty that provides battery backup, SD and USB card slots, WiFi hub all in one tiny little device. Not exactly what you asked for but has the advantage that if you're on a slow wifi (or have none at all) you can still back up your photos from the SD card, copying them to a thumb drive or full USB hard drive connected to the USB port.

I've used it for a year now having found it to solve the exact problem you describe - travel without a laptop. It's built in wifi will connect to 5 (maybe 10 in the newest version) devices, all of which can access the SD and USB slots simultaneously.

The howtogeek link reviewed the 3000mAh version but there's a 6000mAh version as well for not a lot more - http://www.amazon.co.uk/RAVPower-Fil...%C2%AE+FileHub

While I always travel with my SurfacePro and a Thumbdrive (which my wife carries) while we travel, I was wondering about the new portable SSDs I saw advertised in Europe. Anybody tried them for RAW/JPG backup ??

That would be a good solution since the RAW format tends to be a much larger file size than .jpg, have seen 20MB RAW for a 3-5MB .jpg.
