    Moving a Program

Does anyone know of a good program that would allow you to move an application from one computer to another? Almost finished building a new computer and I need to get all my stuff to the new one.

Reinstalling via original disc is an option for only some programs. Norton 2000 had a MOVE utility that would gather up all registry entires, dlls, program and data files - that was just the thing. BUT that is not a function of Norton 2002 (which I use)!

One obstacle, maybe: I would be moving files from a 98 machine to an XP machine. Thanks for any advice.

ALL apps need to be installed, they can NOT be moved or copied to another computer. ONLY the data can be moved.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Don't know if it's worth $40 bucks to you, but you might try AlohaBob's PC Relocator software. I only used it once, where I used to work and it did OK. Look here:

    Re: Moving a Program

Moving stuff to a different PC, using the same drive letters, is a different issue.

Moving files WITHIN the same PC cannot be generalized because there are oh so many issues regarding registry use, uninstall files, etc.
