Google Talk (making phone calls) doesn't work

Having used Google Talk to make phone calls in XP, 7 and 8, I was dismayed to find that it isn't working in 10 preview. I tried it in Firefox, Chrome and the new Spartan flavor of Internet Explorer.

When first setting up Chat, to make calls one has to download and install the Voice plugin. Otherwise a yellow flag says to click on it to do just that. However, that done (and acknowledged) , the flag won't go away and calls cannot be made.

(This feature is heavily used here, as a severe hearing loss makes cell phone use difficult and the amplified earphones with the PC with Google Talk makes phone communications possible.)

Not the most urgent issue with Win10, but something worth solving for a large number of people.

Eureka! Solved. There's a new interface: Hangouts within Google Chat - and the voice plugin and phone feature works in that.
