Repetitive Malicious Software Removal Tool download

Hi,I need help with this please.I downloaded Win.Malicious Software Removal Tool May 2015 KB 890830 48.5MB when it was part of the regular Tuesday downloads offered. It is in "history"as Successful.By the way, this monthly download or rather the installation, alone can take an hour or more, while others download and install at normal speed! Now,every time I turn my computer on,I get notification to download what appears to be this same file.My question to you people in the knowO I DOWNLOAD IT AGAIN.or just ignore it??Thanks very much,in advance.I am a "strong"beginner, quite senior too.

    Macko,

The Windows Malicious Software tool is presented at every Patch Tuesday as there is always new malware out there. If it is offering to download I'd download it. Perhaps this article will help you understand it better. HTH

The WMST, en toto, et al, is a routinely [?b-monthly?] revised single-item utility. One only needs to download it periodically, and just before actually using it.

The "installation time" probably includes the scan that it needs to do once downloaded and installed; it might be best to allow this to be installed separately from other updates, that way the main patching time will not be affected by the scanning. An MRT download/scan does not normally require a reboot afterwards.

Windows usually repeats an update because it hasn't installed correctly or Windows doesn't recognize it as being installed.

See if this MS Fix it does anything for you https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/910339
