    Red face Network connection problems

    Hi everyone.
Im new here and my first language is not English, but i will try my best to discribe the problem.
I have re-installed my computer last week with the legal windows 7 pro cd.
Now everything works ok except my internet connection keeps showing every few seconds a red cross.
I checked everything as far i know. All drivers are uo-to-date.
I tried a different cable and tried all 4 modem connections.
When i run a test all i see everytime is that everything works like it should. Your system is working correct.
And i called my provider and its not at there end.
Is there anything i can do to fix this problem? im becomming desperate.
    Thanks in advance.

I would start by power cycling your modem and/or router by switching off the modem (if separate), router and computer then disconnect all cables for a couple of minutes as this could be a router DHCP problem.

Reconnect the cables then switch just the modem on (if applicable), wait until all of the lights are on then do the same with the router and then switch the computer back on.

If still having problems, press the Windows key then type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

Click on View/Show hidden devices and look for any yellow alerts or red crosses against Network adapters and Non-Plug and Play Drivers - if any, let us know.

If one is against any of the Network adapters, right click on it - select Properties and there will be an error code which you can let us know about.

This could also be because of your AV program playing up and booting up into Safe Mode with Networking will isolate that and then see if you get the same problems.

BTW - Welcome to the Lounge - and your English is fine.

    Hi.
I did all what you said and still the same.
No red crosses and no warningsigns.
Thanks for the reply and the welcome

Open a Command Prompt and type this command when the red cross comes up and when the connection is OK. Paste the results here. To copy the output right click on the border of the Command Prompt windows and select Edit > Select All. Then Edit > Copy.
    ipconfig /all

    cheers, Paul

Right click in the text area of the command window and click on Select all then press enter - and then you can right click in the Reply box and select Paste.

The ipconfig /all is standard regardless of language so we know where the bits are.

When you log in check the Remember me box.

Paul, Sudo, can OP's computer problem be caused by a security program being set a little too assertively? And, for a short time, I had Who Is On My Wifi utility going, however, wifey's tablet kept getting kicked off, so I removed it, now tablet is being kicked off much much less. Maybe a utility "blocking a forward pass?"

Safe Mode with Networking will isolate all 3rd party programs including any security ones, which is why I asked for that to be performed.

Can you open Network and Sharing Center - click on Change adapter settings then right click on your Ethernet adapter and select Properties.

Click on (TCP/IPv4) then on Properties and check the radio button to use the auto DNS severs - OK - Close then reboot.

Is Ziggo your Internet Service Provider as they didn't look like what I would have expected for auto.

The next time it happens, right-click on the network icon in the system tray and select "Troubleshoot problems".
