    Automatically put filename in footer

I'm still not up to speed in Word 10.

When I create a new document, I want its Footer to contain the filename, a page number, and the date. I've achieved most of this through modifying Normal.dotm

I have the filename included as a field in Normal.dotm. I want it to show the new filename whenever I save the new document, but it doesn't.

I can save the document under a new name, and when I re-open it, the filename shows as Normal.dotm

    How can I fix this?

    Lou,

I'm assuming you have a Field Code for the filename in your template.

With that assumption you need to Refresh your Codes.

Thanks. I thought I remembered that the codes updated when the file was saved. I guess it was "printed".
