    Required Fonts (XP)

After installing Font Reserve for Windows (a font management utility) and then moving--deactivating/reactivating several fonts; starting Outlook or FP cause the Windows Installer to begin configuring Publisher 2002 (starting Pub, strangely, does not cause the Installer to begin, nor do any of the other Office apps). All the fonts Pub uses in its font schemes are "activated" and available (Font Reserve adds shortcuts to the Windows/Fonts folder for activated fonts not already contained in that folder). I have left the usual fonts in the Windows/Fonts folder (no shortcuts), including Arial family, Courier New family, Lucida family, MS Sans & Serif, Tahoma & TNR, to name a few. Are there any fonts that must be installed for Outlook and FP to operate without causing the Installer to start?

    Re: Required Fonts (XP)

I solved the problem by running Office repair -- about 8 more fonts were added to the Windows/Fonts folder -- and that solved the Windows Installer problem. Apparently, either Office or Windows XPH won't tolerate font shortcuts for selected fonts. Why Windows wanted to configure Pub2002 when Outlook or FP started remains a mystery.
