    Windows Help file viewer

Up through Windows 7, one could install Windows6.1-KB917607-x64 to use the old format help files. That doesn't work on "10." Is there another way to use the old help files?

EDIT: I see the problem. The Windows 8.1 version of winhlp32.exe won't install in Windows10.

It doesn't even work on Windows 8.1 any more!

That's darn depressing. I have a few books in that format that now I can't read any longer? Pooh!

If you're referring to .CHM files, the portable PDF viewer Sumatra PDF can read them (XP to Win 8).

    Might work in Win 10.

    No, they're HLP files.

Do a search for HLP to CHM and HLP to HTML file converters.

I installed Office 97 successfully on an early TP vn, and was disapointed to find help files weren't accessible. Whilst I can't recall the details, I think I simply found a copy of the winhlp32.exe on the web. I think this link gave me the answer

I know I got it working.
