    Complete Acronis failure?

    wtf moment

i bought acronis true image home 2012 pc backup and recovery
from MEI a couple years ago

just opened the sealed case by removing the wrapper
    and tried to use it
    total fail

rejects my VALID serial number the box said to use
rejects the shorter version their web site said to use

tried to send feedback for help
they list dozens of products but NOT the 2012 version
i guess if i wrote a big pos i would not admit it ever got released and try to erase all memory of that program

i really needed to image the pc tonight
wasted hours trying to get their buggy website to accept my VALID program copy and the VALID S/N

ACRONIS IS A TOTAL FAIL FOR ME
is there any reason i shoudl not declare this thing a BIG POS
and be afraid to ever try any other versions of their brown stuff

PLEASE RECOMMEND ANOTHER PROGRAM by somebody else that I CAN TRY THAT WONT ASK FOR 64 CHARACTERS in tiny type be entered before i can use it
    thanks

What have you been using for disk images?

The online help still seems to work...

I use Terabyte's Image for Windows and always found it reliable https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-windows.htm

I have had to use it for real a few times and it's worked perfectly for me

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

AOMEI Backupper (www.backup-utility.com) has been working nicely for me (Win7 SP1 desktop) where Macrium Reflect Free was unreliable.

Can you elaborate on the issues with Macrium Reflect?

    OP:
How much did MEI charge for that Acronis True Image 2012? Did you compare prices between Acronis web site and MEI web site?
Reason for asking: I'm wondering if MEI accidentally sold you a busted flush poker hand.

Addendum: modified my English for accuracy
Too late, jwoods caught me in my errors in his next post

I'm wondering if some of the unreliability reported by some users of either Macrium and/or Acronis might be attributed to non-vetted and/or incorrectly-anchored external storage media.

Why did you buy such an old version? Current is 2015 and has been vastly improved over 2012. Vastly is an understatement, don't bother with it! Maybe they will sell you an upgrade at a discount.
