    Lost emails

Not sure if this is the right forum.

This morning I opened Thunderbird to read my emails. I have four accounts setup in it, two Yahoo, one Gmail and one Outlook (that's .com). Thunderbird asked if I wanted to compress the database, which I replied yes to, wondering why it had asked as I hadn't deleted any emails recently. But then I found both my Yahoo accounts had lost the last few months of emails. The Gmail and Outlook ones were fine. I checked on my tablets and phone and they showed missing emails for the two Yahoo ones, but not as many.

So I logged in via Firefox to the two Yahoo accounts and everything was present and correct.

I've run Malwarebytes with no issues.

So does anyone have any suggestions as to what might have happened, and why my emails went. And how might I get them back as they appear to be there on the Yahoo web pages?

I have Outlook2013 and this too has the emails missing, but again slightly different time-frames.

The Yahoo and Gmail accounts are IMAP, the Outlook one is Pop.

That sounds like Yahoo not sending the correct details to your mail clients.
In TB right click on the folder with missing items, select Properties > Repair.

    cheers, Paul

Tried that and it downloaded 200 emails - but the 200 emails I still had rather than the 950 odd in Yahoo. I notice that the other Yahoo account only has 200 emails rather than the ~950. So I've lost some before that 200 and some after.

Sorry a bit brusque. Thanks Paul, have you any other ideas?

I've just tried emailing myself (from Gmail) and the count went up by one, then returned to 200, but it looks like a different 200.

Just checked for Yahoo email problems, and guess what, they have some - see https://downdetector.co.uk/problems/...-at-yahoo-mail for anyone having the same issue.

Thanks for your help Paul - I should have checked this site first!

Well Yahoo have fixed whatever the problem was, but with no apology or statement that I can see. But then it's free so what can one expect?

It's not the first time, perhaps using another email supplier is in order....
