    Clone App

    Hey Y'all,

This Clone App looks interesting. I've downloaded the file and some of the plugins and printed the documentation. I'll report back when I get to it but though I'd give y'all a heads up. HTH

    Update:

Well, I read the documentation & loaded it onto a USB key (portable application). It would not run! I got the CloneApp has stopped working Windows error message. Tried it from the hard drive w/same result. This was on my Win 7 HP SP-1 fully patched laptop.

I've posted the problem to the authors website along with the windows error information.

    Hey Y'all,

I solved the problem with the application not running. I had Emet 5.2 set to Maximum Protection, reducing it to Recommended Settings solved the problem. One of the best features, IMHO, is that it will backup up settings for Office Programs including Outlook email accounts.
Getting setup to run some tests, e.g. taking an Image of the disk for recovery if problems ensue. HTH

Will it work with Office '97?

Not a rhetorical question, I am probably going to install it on the new box today.

    Wavy,

CloneApp doesn't currently have entries for Office '97 built-in but it looks like the Office 2010 .PLG files (in the Plug-ins folder) can be easily amended to Office '97. Have a look at section 3.1 in the manual for info about the plug-in files.

    Hope this helps...

    Hey Y'all,

I just completed my first test of CloneApp.

I did a Clone of my applications (I was specifically interested in Outlook 2010 Email accounts).

After completing the clone (Running from a USB Thumb drive and storing the Clone info there also) I deleted one of my email accounts.

Fired CloneApp back up and ran a restore ... bingo put the email account right back in place.

Next test will be a little more comprehensive but this is a good start. HTH

    Paul,

Sorry, but I've been tied up with Home projects and other stuff and haven't gotten back to CloneApp. Of course then next couple of days/weeks will be devoted to getting ready and testing of W10. I'll make a note to get back to testing CloneApp soon.

    Paul,

Right you are! Between Tennis, Bowling, Movies, Lounging, Traveling, Maintaining my Wife's machine (the biggest task of all ), and Reading it is hard to find time to do anything. This Retirement thing is HARD, but somebody has to do it!
