Unhappy Icon on Task Bar for Windows 10

A small white Windows icon has appeared on my task bar a few weeks back titled "Get Windows 10". Is this a genuine windows icon?

    It is.

It allows the user to check the compatiblity of their current system with Windows 10, and "reserve" the download for the July 29th release.

Thanks for the reply. I have "reserved" Windows 10. Apparently I will be notified when it downloads on 29th July 2015. Hope it works out okay. I have posted a question regarding Windows Media Player (not center).

I would recommend doing a full disk image of your current system before installing Windows 10 (it won't install on its own).

If anything does go wrong, you have a safety net created to roll back to and start over.

I use "file history" to back up my personal files to a external HD. How do I do a full disk image of my system?

In Windows 7 - Control Panel > Backup and Restore > Create a System Image...

    Create System Image.jpg

    In Windows 8 -

Many people also use free (and paid) third-party disk imaging tools in place of the built-in Windows funtionality.

Here are a few reviews from Gizmo's Freeware...

In 8.1 just > File History; when the dialogue window comes up it's @ the bottom-left corner. System Image Backup

    W10 is the same, btw.

    All natively in the OS.

    Cheers,

That was covered in the Tom's Hardware link in post #6.
