USB 2.0

Does anyone know if there are drivers available yet that will allow a Maxtor 3000LE USB External drive to work with XP? I have not yet found one on the Maxtor site. Since it was a Christmas present, I'd sure like to use it.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Re: USB 2.0

    From Maxtor Knowledge Base:

Microsoft Windows XP does not currently support the USB 2.0 specification. Microsoft is actively working on releasing a USB 2.0 driver package soon.

    - Windows Update http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp Search for new/updated drivers for hardware that is present on your machine. Access to Windows Update can be restricted by firewalls or online service monitors. If you are unable to access Windows Update, you can use try the Corporate Windows Update http://corporate.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ The Corporate Windows Update scenario allows you to download a *.CAB file package on to a machine that may not have the USB 2.0 host controller present. Access to Windows Update can be restricted by firewalls or online service monitors.

    - Manually select the Windows Update check-box in the Add New Hardware Wizard. Sececting this option allows software drivers to be configured and automatically installed on first hardware detection.

    - USB2.0 drivers will load automatically if the card is previously installed, and the computer is connected to the internet. The plug and play software wizard will find the new hardware and automatically install drivers for the USB2 to PCI device controller.

    Re: USB 2.0

Thanks for the information. I was unable to find that listing in the Maxtor Knowledgebase; I really apprecate you pointing it out.

Thanks also for the Corporate Update page, I had known it was there either...

It seems that I'll just have to be patient....not really my strong suit! Thanks a lot for your efforts.

    Have a great New Year!

    Sincerely,
