    GWXUX has stopped working

What is the meaning and any significance of that warning(?) I have recently received several times? Thanks for any helpful info.

It means there is an issue with the "Get Windows 10" app that is used to check compatibity and reserve the upgrade.

It's not mandantory to have it installed to reserve (can be done in Windows Update as well).

To turn if off, open Task Scheduler and navigate to Microsoft > Windows > Setup > gwx.

Disable the two tasks in the gwx folder.

    Reboot.

I brought up Task Scheduler but there is no "Microsoft" shown.

You need to click on the arrow next to the Task Scheduler folder to expand it.

You'll see similar arrows next to the Microsoft, Windows, and Setup folders to expand them.

I finally found it. I also deleted KB3035583. Hope that does it!

Seems pretty bad for MS when their Win10 "nudge" doesn't work properly, doesn't it?

Mine, either. (Doesn't show Windows in Task Scheduler). I looked at the screenshot shown by Coochin, too, but mine doesn't look like that. Is it because I am using Chrome browser right now?

The "GWX" (KB3035583) Win10 nag icon has nothing to do with which browser you use.

See the discussion about GWX in the What you should know about the Win10 launch thread.

If "Setup" is not there you may not have GWX installed.

    cheers, Paul

I can find the GWX folder in the scheduler but nothing in it. My Win7 system keeps turning on the checkbox (in Windows Update) for the Win10 download. Getting really annoying. I don't want to Win10 (YET).

My problem is that under Win7 Home Premium that the Win10 download keeps "selecting" itself in Win Update and starts a download of Win10. I keep canceling the download and unchecking it. Windows keeps rechecking the box and starting the download x hours later.

    Very annoying.

Both of the two Win8.1 systems are not doing this.

I will upgrade to Win10 at some point in time, but do NOT want to do for a while yet (when most/all of any problems have been fixed).

Try the registry patch suggested in this thread.
