    WMC and Windows 10

Hi All, I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 10.

I use WMC regularly with Windows 7.

I understand that Windows 10 does not come with WMC, but if WMC is already installed will it still be there once Windows 10 installed or does it get completely deleted after the install.

    Any thoughts?

    Regards

It will be removed when Windows 10 is installed.

Thanks for the info - does anyone know if there are any options to reinstall WMC after WIndows 10 is installed or if there are any suitable alternatives out there?

I guess on another note - why would Microsoft stop providing this - I think its a great program.

From the Windows 10 FAQ & Tips...

"Windows Media Center is not part of Windows 10 and won’t be available after upgrading to Windows 10. If you use Windows Media Center, we will alert you during upgrade that Windows Media Center is not available on Windows 10. We know that some users use Windows Media Center to play DVDs, and we are providing a free DVD playback app in Windows 10 for Windows Media Center users."

VLC Media Player is a good free 3rd-party app...

Damm - Like the ability to record TV shows and series.

Guess I'll be sticking with Windows 7 then!

    Thanks

Unless I'm missing something, I can't find any features in VLC to record TV, only playback features. I do find it a great program for media playback.

That's true but I don't think that is what Verada is looking for.

Hi Jerry - you are correct.

The ability to record TV and functions like slide show over music is very good.

I think you'll end up being pleasantly surprised over the quality and ease of use of many of the 3rd party alternatives out there.
WMC just isn't that good, and MS itself is telling you so by discontinuing it in W10.

    veranda,

W10 will do TV but, in conjunction w/ Xbox. There are, also, Store APPS that will do it

    Cheers,

    Thanks all.

Has any one had any experience with Kodi as an alternative to WMC?

    Or any other suggestions?

    Regards

Don't delay Win10 because of this.

Another reason is WMC was not receiving enough use by people to justify it.

Can you please indicate the source for your statistics with regard to WMC?

If WMC was already running on the Win10 early release candidates, it should continue to run on the Win10 golden master. Either MS wants to get out of that aspect of the business (if so, they should have announced that before any preview code went out), or soon in the future, they will be selling a version of WMC, most likely one that has "better" instrumentation for tracking users and their music (its that marketing thing).
