    Folder Opens on Start

One of my computers - Win 200Pro SP2, 128Mb RAM, 30Gb HD, wiht HD divided into three drives (C for Windows, D for Programs, E for data) always opens an emply folder called "D:PROGRAM" on starting.

I have searched the Registry and Start folders in the computer for "D:PROGRAM" - nothing. Of course hundreds of D:Program Files etc, but no key with just "D:PROGRAM".

I deleted the folder but Windows just recreated it the next time it started.

It is an annoyance rather than a big issue, but it does worry my Secretary.

Can someone suggest how I can stop this rather weird behaviour. Thank you.

    Re: Folder Opens on Start

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management
    then
System Tools > System Information > Software Environment > Startup Programs

Do you see something there amiss?

    Re: Folder Opens on Start

Thank youLief, I did not know about that facility. However this morning the computer started without the D:PROGRAM folder, so I guess my deleting it again yesterday did the job?

Nothing amiss that I can see in the Startup Programs folder.

I guess best thing I can do now is watch the computer each day to see if it starts up with that folder again. If not it is fixed!

Irritating when you ask for help and the need disapears by itself!

But thank you very much for your advice which I will no doubt use again when some program installs itself to start automatically.

Best wishes for the New Year

    Noel
