Adding external hardrives to wireless home network.

    Hello

I'm looking to add a pair of 1Tb myBook drives to my wireless network at home.

My ISP provided a 2wire router, that handles TV, Internet and Phone. They have told me that I cannot add the drives directly to the 2 wire.

Is there a way for me to add them to the wireless network or make them wireless themselves that doesn't cost a fortune?

They are currently attached to an old laptop, that is failing, and I use it to access the files but would like to do this from any device in the house. (I.E> phone, tablet, Laptop...) Plus , its failing, and only able to run for short periods of time.

    Thanks for any advise.

Add a USB Hub to one of your other computers on the network, or purchase your own router.

You could replace the laptop with an old PC and install FreeNAS to do the work.
