Rid desktop icon of "shield" overlay.

    Hi,

Below is an icon from my W7 Pro desktop. How do I remove the small yellow circled '"shield" overlay from the image?
A few other icon also display this shield. I think is has to do with the UAC but I'm not sure, and don't want to mess it up.

There is wide range of solutions here: http://superuser.com/questions/68345...s-in-windows-7

I have verified the solution posted on 11 November 2011 which begins "Alright people, after days of trying various methods, I believe I've found the ultimate solution to remove that annoying shield icon."

Thanks, I'm going to take your suggestion.

Can you imagine how much time & $$$ were wasted by some very smart into solving this non-issue?
However it looks like MS programmers have time to waste, programming this nonsense into an "operating system".

Stuff like this in S/W just saps everyone's productivity.
