Kb2952664 - keeps asking to be installed

Reinstalling my wife's system (Win 7 Ultimate), all the updates go in apart from two. KB2952664 does install, but then asks again - and again and again - ad infinitum, ad nauseam, to be installed. It doesn't seem to appear on the list of updates available to be uninstalled, though it's late, and many a byte has passed my eyes.

Ditto, MS Silverlight (KB2512827) which I don't install for her (default browser is FF), and want to hide, but it keeps on coming back, asking to be installed.

Any ideas from WS Loungers, please?

I have this article saved for dealing with repeated prompts for the same update even though it reports as successfully installed.

If you have Windows Live Essentials installed on the computer, then you will have Silverlight installed and it's always best to keep it updated.

Following a recent factory reset on a Win 7 laptop that didn't come with SP1 preinstalled, I found that I was unable to access the MS web site to manually download SP1 until I had updated Silverlight.

Sudo - many thanks for this, I'll give it a try.

Thanks also for the word about Silverlight.

I've never had to use that cmd myself but some feedback on if it works for you would help other users with the same problems with other WUs.

    Welcome to the Lounge hck.

Did you have a look at this article as previously posted http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ed-update.html

If you continue to get the error, then work your way through this one. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ogs-reset.html
