I hit delete in Disk Management and lost use of USB stick.

I went into Disk Management to reformat a 4 GB USB before creating a new Rescue Media with Macrium Free and got side tracked and hit Delete instead and I have lost use of that one USB Stick and I think it is because it has taken that letter assigned to it away. Iv'e searched this and have not found a solution. Any easy cure please. Something I did find though while searching was the fact that the Disk Management won't prepare it any way and to do a procedure in the elevated command prompt. Preparing a USB stick for Windows PE - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Software Am I on the right track with that. BTW what does PE stand for in Windows PE.
    Thanks Pete.

PE usually stands for Preinstall Environment, at least for the disc I use.

Sounds like you deleted the partition on the Thumb/Flash drive which explains why a drive letter can't be assigned, always need at least one partition before it can be formatted then a drive letter assigned. All the Thumb/Flash drives I've worked with use the FAT32 formatting.

I decided to create a Win 7 install bootable USB and I was prompted to format it to NTFS first which differs from the Macrium Software article, but my Win 7 laptop is just an old BIOS job and doesn't have UEFI.

    Rufus done the job.

Thanks for the help here, something I learnt here is not to use Delete in Disk Management and lucky it was only a 4 GB thumb drive I lost use of. I got another thumb drive and got the Bootable USB sorted with Rufus so thanks for that tip Paul T. There was a bit more to this OP but I have to learn to add more information and explain better. Cheers.
