Windows Explorer - How to get "full screen" display upon opening?

There does not seem to be a forum for Windows Explorer, so I thought I would post this question here. I suspect the answer is very simple, but I have not been able to figure it out. I am running Windows 8.1.

Every time I open up Windows Explorer, it comes up in what I would call "half-screen display", that is I need to go up into the upper right corner and click on the little square box to get a full screen display. Having to do this every time it opens up, gets to be very annoying, so my question is whether or not there is something I can set to have it come up in full-screen display every time I open it. Any insight that anyone would care to provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Ron,

    Open Windows Explorer (File Explorer)
    Maximize the window
Hold Ctrl & Click the X

Next time it should open full screen.

If that doesn't work try Holding Shift instead, can't remember which.

You can also pin it to the Task bar. Then Right click on the icon, right click on Windows (or File) explorer, and select properties. Next to the run box, select Maximised in the drop down list.

Windows Explorer of Win7 and earlier and File Explorer of Win8/8.1 and 10 are pretty much the core of Windows, if explorer.exe doesn't work properly neither does Windows which should explain why there is no separate forum for them.

As for the size, I hardly ever run them in Maximized, usually adjust the size and hold down the Ctrl key while closing, sometimes takes twice to get Windows to 'learn' how I want it.

Maximizing using the icon at upper right is different from Full Screen using the F11 key. Full Screen removes some of the toolbars, pressing F11 a second time toggles back to the previous view.
