It's because there won't be any win 10 drivers for that video card. I will have the same problem on an older PC with an ATI Radeon X850 AGP card. So, bottom line is that there will be no win 10 on my older PC and I will ride it out on win 7 until the end on that one.

    Hi lumpy95,
For a fair amount of time, I've been meaning to do a clean install as my laptop is as slow as molasses. Now as it's unable to run Win10, I'll wait to see how it performs on my desktop pc. Then it will either be re-mastered or replaced.

I got to looking around and I may be wrong about your video card. I found this:
"Description: ATI Radeon X1270 Driver Installer
    File Version: 8.5
    File Size: 2.33M
Supported OS: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP"
    I found it here: http://www.driverscape.com/download/ati-radeon-x1270

It's possible that there's something else about the card that win 10 doesn't like since it threw that message but according to the site I listed, it shows a win 10 driver.
Here is the search term I used on Google " ATI Radeon X1270 driver win 10 " ( without quotes ) and there are a number of hits on it. You may want to do some research.
Here is another MS article about the message you received about your card, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...5a40f43?auth=1

    Hope this is helpful.

Besides vid cards, there are several things about older PC's that Windows 10 won't like.

I tried to install 10166 on an older (spare) HD and Win 10 refused to install...... because the HD was formatted MBR.
I had to use EaseUS Partition Manager to change it to the newer format (I can never remember those dang letters).
    Then 10166 installed OK.

I've never had any OS refuse to install because of a video card. If the OS does not have the exact drivers in it's
own driver pack, it will just install a generic driver.

Windows 7 had a pretty good driver pack, but not all inclusive.
Windows 8.1 had a much improved driver pack, and picks up many hardware that Windows 7 would not install.
I suspect that Windows 10 will be even better..... so far it has been on every PC I've installed it on.

Cheers Mates and good luck with 10

Ironically, @ the very least interestingly, in this very Forum and 2 or 3 others, maybe more, there are threads about people all excited cus of discovering, maybe unexpectedly, that Win10 runs quite nicely even on old(er), not very robust machines.

Most reports indicate the compatibility of Windows 10 is deep & vast, hardware & software, even some 16 bit, apparently.

    NTFS?? <--- those letters?

Oh & 10 is likable, works very well, has nice, useful Features & is, really, easy to use AND Edge is very fast, reliable & stable; far superior to IE

    Just felt like saying it.

Windows 10 and its OS, the concept, the Platform, all its powerful abilities easily achieved, used & appreciated across all devices. Computing is looking bright(er) w/ Windows 10

Well I think Roderunner may be in luck but I highly doubt that there will be a driver for my old AGP card. The CPU meets all requirements for win 10 but AGP may be a sticking point. I built the computer in 2003 so it's an oldie.

Yes, well, it can, certainly, be that way sometimes... but, likely, it owes you nothing.
