Exclamation The Last Beta 10 Is Here!

Build 10240 Released 15/7/15 to Fast Track.

Possibly last beta Build before GA 29/7

Actually, it is; indeed it is the RTM.

Here is an interesting tidbit... Last summer, before 10 was announced in September, there were suggestions that it would use its internal code name. There were even screen shots of how its title screen would appear. The name was (is) Threshold and the screen had a big TH or TH1 on it And, now, we have beta Builds with the Branchname TH1

    Hey Y'all,

Hits your right in the face...No BUILD number in bottom right corner! Not to mention that you have to agree to the License again.

No ISO available yet from MS, but they promised that it would be made available "soon".

    Hello, RG.
Yes, no built numbers but if you go to System, it shown no more the TP (?) qualificatif to the OS, it shows W-10, period.
This one has respected all my apps and settings even my use of Google and IE 11.
Runs like a bat out of hell too. Further investigation to be done today. I still wonder why the desktop does not receive it ?

    All best wishes, Jean.

    Have Win10 10162 installed & running.

Received Windows Updates, whoops...settings updates... which include 10240.

It was downloaded and JUMPED IMMEDIATELY to install. That was not expected.

So, if you get TH1 10240, it installs NOW. Make sure you are ready AHEAD OF TIME or be prepared for what happens.

I have a duplicate Win7 32-bit partition set to receive the new code.

On another machine, 64-bit, I have a Win8.1 Pro system ready to receive the new code.

    Be ready is the key.

Thanks, Drew. If the desktop does not get it, I will use this link.
As it is, both my lowly Toshiba have received it, the desktop is a better machine but still locked out, maybe. Going to fire it up now to see.

Yeah ! It is now getting it. Had me on hedges before for not being able to get it.

    All best wishes. Jean.

Didn't sound that soon to me:

Starting tomorrow (July 14th), we will also not be delivering any additional ISOs at this point as we really need Insiders to be using, stressing, and validating our distribution and upgrade processes. We’ll make ISOs available again in the future, but for now we ask you to upgrade your current build via Windows Update once the next build is released.

Drew, strange, very strange. Yes, I got the 10240 running after much hesitation, it set different from the two Toshiba laptops, this desktop did not keep all my apps, I had just a minute or two to see it and it did not keep Google as my search engine, nor IE. I do think that MS is pressing us to Bing and Edge but why did the two laptops be left on Google and IE and not this one ? We will never know.

When I have more time ( supper and guests ) I will see if I can get my usual way to get to the Web. I did before and I have all hopes that I will do it again. On a Toshiba at this typing.

Now on this elusive desktop. And I managed to get it all back to normal, my normal. It really is fast. All my apps are running as before too. Great !

Thanks for the link even if I did not have to use it eventually, it decided to give me 10240 after all.

    All best wishes. Jean.

I have a Win10TP partition that received 10240 via the settings panel.

It applied all current updates to 10162, then downloaded (3.7G or so) of the 10240 install and immediately applied it. That was not expected. It also applied a new key.

I have two other systems configured to receive Win10 as part of the reserve operation. Neither has received it yet or notification of the change.

I was able to download an ISO of 10240 so that will be burned to a DVD for use as needed.

At this point, I have cleaned the instaall partition and removed all vestiges of 10162. Got a bunch a space back (not that it matters at this point yet).

However, I could not set System Recover restore points. I had to go to other bootable partitions on this computer and remove all system recovery specifications, and finally add them back one system at a time. Now the Win10 System Recover restore points are properly configured (as well as the other partitions). This Win10 sytem also has some Windows Live stuff and Office 2007 installed.

    Further testing to come.
