GWX is a recent Windows Update (KB3035583) for Win7 SP1 and Win8.1 systems which places an icon in the notification area that nags to "reserve" the upgrade to Win10.

See my #68 post at: http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...-Win10-launch?

Since I got my GWX icon, I've noticed that when booting up, I have a yellow alert on my WiFi icon until the GWX icon appears - so I've assumed the two are connected in some way and could be related to your problem.

Do you have any network related errors listed in Event Viewer with an approx. time stamp to the GWXUX error.

It could be something like I've been getting lately on boot up https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...73045f98d.aspx but as the laptop is booting up in 58 - 65 secs I just let it get on with it.

In Event Viewer, does the blue online help link give any more info on the GWX error ?

I suppose you could try uninstalling KB3035583 and reinstall it when it's next presented to see if that resolves the error.

    Excellent resolution, thanks Coochin!

Must say windows updates are notoriously infamous. I have less update issues running Debian sid (unstable) as my daily OS

Does disabling the tasks also remove the Win 10 update when it would otherwise have come ?

I found the KB8035583 in my update-history four times. It was installed in April, May, July and October.
I uninstall it, reboot and the job was still there. So I uninstall it a second time and now it was gone.
The update service offers me this package again and I disable/hide it. Now I get no more error messages.
I hope that this calm will prevail going forward.

You will likely find it unhidden and if you do autoupdates you will need to uninstall again.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.
