Opening Excel 2013 XLSM opens XLSB? - can't hide

I have a macro-enabled workbook that I created in 2010. It's in a folder at C:\aaa. After I upgraded to 2013, whenever I open the file, a second spreadsheet named simply "Excel," (I think it's my XLSB file) opens at the same time. When I do a "save-as" on the second file, it defaults to the XLSTART folder. If I close the second file, only the xlsm closes. I can hide the second file, but it just opens again when I next open my xlsm file. Is there something that I can do to have my desired file open without the second one opening? Thanks.
