win xp fix for OpenType font driver vulnerability?

I hear that MS has a fix for the OpenType font driver vulnerability for win xp but are not automatically updating it to xp users.
Does any body know if this fix is or will be made available on the internet by geeky good guys.
I have no use for the Adobe OpenType fonts and will be happy to disable the offending driver. Does anybody know how stop this vulnerability by disabling this function.
Let's solve this issue to keep XP alive.
    Thanks,

It seems unlikely to me. Where did you hear that?

In the recent Security Now podcast on the Twit network. Steve Gibson is on top of this stuff. It is known that MS still support XP embedded. In fact, there is a way to fake out the PC to look like XP embedded to MS and they will dutifully deliver all the updates. I do not dare do that. Yet it would be a tragedy if millions of XP machines are compromised because of this little used Adobe opentype font function. If we can not fix it then kill it.

The workaround at the moment is to rename atmfd.dll. You might get problems with webpages or applications that use it, but I haven't noticed anything yet.

    Hey tonyl,
How exactly did you do the rename? Is it simply as administrator, change atmfd.dll to xxxatmfd.dll
    Thanks

↑ Yup, simple as that. As I said, I've had no problems, but YMMV.

Noop, that did not work. As soon as I renamed to xxxatmfd.dll it immediately recreated another atmfd.dll so now I have both in my system32 directory.

So I deleted the key in the registry that lists atmfd.dll as the Adobe font driver.
To test the fix, I opened a document with Book Antiqua font, which is marked as Open Type, and it rendered just fine.
Did I not fix the problem or did the Book font not invoke atmfd.dll. Does anybody know for sure which fonts invoke atmfd or how else to test this fix?
    Thanks,
