    Store 10240

Is the Windows 10 Store able to do anything much for anyone today?

I've had six app update downloads stuck all day (inc. the Store app!)

After a restart they were still stuck and now the store app won't open.

I just downloaded an app previously purchased without issue.

Does the elevated cmd dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup do anything for you followed by the /restorehealth cmd and a reboot ?

Thanks guys. I ran the Control Panel, Windows Store App Troubleshooter (no issues found), then restarted again.

I can now get back into the store, but six downloads are still stuck. I can Pause All, Resume All, but that's All!

Still no actual downloading taking place. I'll leave it sitting there for a bit longer before trying DISM or SFC.

I tried DISM and SFC, but no faults discovered. Also tried wsreset.exe, but no change.

I'm stuck with seven store app downloads which won't complete.

I may try Microsoft support as I'm out of ideas.

A few others have the same issue.

Its a longshot Bruce but you could try the apps troubleshooter:

Thanks. That was actually the first thing I tried, but I will give it another shot.

Can you get these apps in Safe Mode with Networking or are they like Windows Updates which you can't ?

Try re-registering the store with this. Copy it to notepad, and save it with a cmd extension. Run as administrator.

    Code:
    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

Since you stated in the thread title that you are on build 10240 this may not apply but since Friday, the store is not available to any earlier build. See:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com...iew2014General

You might want to check your store version as described in that thread.

The online apps troubleshooter won't work properly with Windows 10. I used the one in control panel.

I tried safe mode with networking but the store refuses to run (with an error saying the built-in administrator can't use it, even though I was logged in with an MS account.)

I did try that but it just sat there "processing" for a couple of hours and did nothing useful. Thanks though.

I think my problem was exactly the same as described by the first poster there. I couldn't check the store version as I got stuck on the store update screen depicted there.

I tried Reset PC in desperation, but that failed a few times with "failed to initialize boot device" and reverted changes.

But after original setup was restored, I then got "security" update KB3074681, only released yesterday (Saturday!) and after that the store updated correctly.

I believe it was some sort of conflict between recent updates to build 10240 and the store update, which may have been fixed by the very latest update.

Anyway, all back to normal now (with latest store version 2015.7.22.2).

    Thanks for the various suggestions.

P.S. The update which may have cured my issue is now causing problems for others: Windows 10 Update KB3074681 causing crashes for users
