    windows 8.1 downloads fail.

Good evening. At the risk of sounding dopey, I have tried several downloads, for example I-tunes. The download completes and then disappears. I know its in there somewhere but after the download prompt disappears, I can't find it. I know this is simple so please so me the obvious that I am missing. Thank you in advance.

One way to find the download is to remember the file name and do a Search for it. I've found Win7 and newer to save into the Downloads Folder by default but they could be going to the Desktop or Documents/My Documents.

Windows has a default download location under your user profile. Try this.
    Press Win R
    Type: %userprofile%\Downloads

    cheers, Paul

When you get the download prompt, are you clicking on Run or Save ?

Run would normally start the install whereas the Save would put it into the Downloads folder by default, unless you have changed that.

In IE - Tools - View downloads then click on the Options link in the lower left corner and that will show you where they are defaulted to be saved.
